    Description

We offer for your consideration this antique imported pocket watch.
This is a beautiful little pocket watch, it is a 15 Jewel Swiss movement, set up in a sterling silver demi-hunting case.
The case carries the import stamp "GS" George Stockwell as well as a ".925" stamp indicating the case metal is sterling silver. There is a "C" stamp which indicates a date around 1919/20. The "U" stamp is actually an upside down astrological symbol for Leo, or the lion. The lion indicates the origin to be London. After 1950 the origin of the Leo stamp was oriented correctly. This case is in very good condition for it's age. The shoulder is clean, and the back is covered in a radial cross hatch engraved pattern, with circle at the center containing a small badge. The bail is also stamped .925 with the Leo stamp.
There are some scratches on the crystal bezel shoulder that run perpendicular to the seam around the 4 & 5 o'clock position. Because this is a solid silver case these scratches could polished out.
The dial is white porcelain enamel, with a very shallow sunk seconds dial. There are stout roman numeral marking the 12 hours. There is a double fine line border containing ticks that mark the minutes. At the 12,3,6,& 9 o'clock positions there are small diamond shape ticks. The seconds dial has arabic numerals at 10 second intervals.
The hands look to be faintly gold washed and in a whip spade style.
There is a faint hairline fracture that runs across the lower face from the 8 o'clock position, under the center, and over to just below the 3 o'clock or 17 minute position. (See Picture)
I really wish the European watchmakers of the time would have stamped their works.
But it was not uncommon for watch works to remain unmarked and sold to multiple jewelers who sometimes stamped or engraved their own marks, or left them blank.
But because the works were Swiss made, they had to be stamped as such, for export purposes.
If there are any Horologist out there who recognize this movement, please feel free to provide the information
And even after an estimated 100 years, this watch is still running very nicely.
